I cannot believe we have another Weekend Upholstery Retreat in the books! This trip was every bit as successful as the first! 9 women traveled to Ypsilanti, MI from 7 different stated to hang with me at the historic Newton of Ypsilanti for a weekend full of leisure and hard work learning the basics of Upholstery. I’d love to share some of my favorite moments with you here!
The students and I arrived to the cutest Swag Bags. We waited for everyone to arrive to leave for our field trip to my happy place… Discount Fabric Outlet and Haberman’s Fabrics in Clawson, MI.
Between the 10 of us we purchased 96.8 yards of beautiful fabric! Local student Lisa Ramsay won our TShirt contest with the closest guess at 96 yards!
Every morning and evening we were treated to the most delicious meals prepared by owner and professional Chef Allison Anastasio.
Students arrived in class Friday morning to their own workstations, complete with an apron and some tools to get them started.
We spent one night out on the town in Downtown Ypsilanti and enjoyed a delicious meal at the local Thompson & Co. The staff was incredible and so were the food and drinks!
Each student either brought or was provided their own piece to work on throughout the weekend. Not everyone completed their projects, but everyone walked away having learned something new to take back and use on their own turf.
