THIS IS A SIGN

You found me because you have this itch, right? An itch to create, to learn, to maybe even kick off a new business adventure? Maybe you’re here because you fell in love with the idea of breathing life back into a beloved piece of furniture. Whatever brought you here, I’m thrilled you made it. But here’s the deal: we’ve got a bit of a situation in the world of upholstery.
See, in my classes, a lot of folks start out strong, but hit a wall when they get to the nitty-gritty, like staple removal, or undoing all of the sewing you just spent 3 classes trying to perfect. I get it – it’s not the sexy part of upholstery, and learning isn’t cheap.

I began as a DIY’er, out of my home, getting paid to practice on client work for the first couple of years in my learning process. Everything I learned started with Youtube videos or public, professional forums. I was lucky to have that community support, because the truth is, we’re fighting against some pretty hefty odds.

Big mass production factories have squeezed out the small businesses, the traditional training ground for our trade. And those few small shops left can’t afford to train newcomers, but face a scaling challange of needing skilled trades people to take on their work. These practices are driving up the cost and lead times of upholstery. There’s a gap in the U.S. for a formal upholstery education, and that’s where my Sponsor a Student Program comes in.

This program is about making upholstery classes accessible for those ready to push past the DIY stage. It’s for those of you who want to level up, who want to move from hobbyist to pro. And we’re not just teaching upholstery here – we’re building a community. Because despite the competitive world out there, in here, we’re all about collaboration and mutual support.

So, let’s change the game. Let’s create a world where passion and craftsmanship are valued over mass production. Let’s ensure the art of upholstery not only survives but thrives. Together, we can make it happen.
